“Radical Healing & Transformation through Filmmaking”
Often times, mainstream media lacks accurate depictions of what it means to be queer/trans and API. In a world that constantly creates no space for us, one of the ways we can exist is by demanding and creating spaces that authentically depicts our stories.This workshop will give folks a space to discuss the lack of visibility in mass media and how to use our traumas and/or unique experience as queer/trans API folx to make art while using community to help us get there. We will be premiering a 14-minute queer-Vietnamese short film and discuss the behind the scenes process of making the movie. Lastly, we will have a mini exercise to help explore everyone’s creative side in storytelling.
